Tell your doctor if you have any history of sores, acial X-rays, or scarring that keeps coming back. Before beginning a chemical peel treatment, your doctor may stop administering certain drugs and prepare your skin for the treatment by using other medications, such as Retin-A, Renova, or glycolic acid. Your doctor may also prescribe antibiotics or antiviral drugs. Working with your doctor to determine the depth of your peel is highly recommended. This decision depends solely upon the condition of your skin and your goals for treatment. Ask your doctor in advance whether you will need to have someone drive you home after your peel, you may under sedation for the treatment.
Am I a Good Candidate For a
Chemical Peel?
Fair-skinned and light-haired patients are generally the best candidates for chemical peel, but darker skin may also have good results as well. Skin bulges, excessive fatty areas, and deeper wrinkles do not always respond to well to chemical peels. If you’re in need of treatment for these areas, then you may need other kinds of cosmetic surgical procedures, such as laser resurfacing, a facelift, or soft tissue filler.
